Ostrich and tortoiseshell fan

Gorgeous large antique fan made of ostrich feathers and tortoiseshell, ca. 1895.

A beautiful fan of very large size. Made of natural coloured Ostrich feathers in white with some tan and brown shades. The guards and sticks are made of genuine tortoiseshell, no imitation. Fans like this are hard to find! The Ostrich feathers are exellent, very full and fluffy, no smell or stains. The guards and sticks are also in very good condition, no breakage, no repairs. Only one small flaw, the loop at the bottom of the sticks has broken off for the larger part, otherwise excellent.

This is a very large fan, it measures an impressive 69 cms wide and 44 cms tall when fully opened.
