Oil paint folding screenGorgeous antique French folding screen or dressing screen, handpainted (oil paint), late 19th century.
A beautiful very romantic screen with lovely colours. This screen has three hinged panels, and each panel is painted with a different scene. The middle panel has a lovely courting couple, the outer screens have scenes of ruins in a forest. other than the central scenes each panel has lovely painted decorations of birds, ornaments and flowers.
The left and middle screen have repairs where the canvas has once ripped, the rips are backed with canvas patches and filled in with oil paint. The back is painted brown and also has some repairs. Overall this is an exceptionally beautiful screen! It is quite tall, measuring 183 cms. Each panel is approx. 51,5 cms wide, total width approx. 155 cms.
