Edwardian summer gown

Edwardian summer gown

Gorgeous antique Edwardian summer gown with the most beautiful lace, ca. 1900 - 1905.
Beautiful dress made of semi-sheer batiste cotton with a floral print, with it's most amazing feature the stunning intricate lace that makes up the whole top section! It is really lovely, very fine needle lace, mostly of a tambour type lace with floral patterns. If anyone knows the exact type of lace we would love to hear from you, we've not seen this lace before. What is also amazing about this dress is the condition it is in. I would like to say perfect, but maybe someone else can find some microscopic flaw, so we're not saying perfect, but as close to perfect as a dress of this age and type can be!
The bodice has a pigeon breast front typical of the time. The dress is a 2-piece, a bodice and a skirt, the bodice was worn tucked into the shirt. Usually these dresse were worn with either a sash or a belt in a coordinating colour around the waist, we have just tied a wide ribbon around the waist, which we will off course send along with the dress. Because of the sheer fabric a dress like this would always have been worn with a slip underneath, we have shown it here with a white petticoat (which is too long, but the only one we had at the moment). The petticoat is not included.
The gown belonged to a person who certainly wasn't the tallest, she must have been a petite lady. The (modern) mannequin we used for the pictures couldn't be lowered enough! She must have been just over 150 cms tall (5ft). The waist measures approx. 58 cms, the bust is hard to measure because of the pigeon breast shape, but is around 85 cms. Length of skirt approx. 92 cms in front and 100 cms in the back.
