Armchair from 'the Maaskamer'

Armchair from 'the Maaskamer'

Gorgeous antique upholstered armchair, originally from the Maaskamer room, a Louis XVI style room in the 'Dordts Patriciërshuis', the former regent's residence (now museum). Ca. 1890.
The Maaskamer room dates form the late 18th century, this chair dates to the late 19th century and was probably made to replace some original furniture. The armchair is made in the Lious XVI style. Beautiful wooden frame painted in a very soft muted green colour, almost beige, and upholstered with lovely brocade in soft pastels. The chair is in very good original condition. The woodwork is excellent, the base of the upholstery is very good too. The outer fabric does show some age, but displays very well. Some wear on the armrests (no holes), and some age related staining, mostly to the upper back as can clearly be seen in the pictures. In all very good for original upholstery of this age! This is a large chair, it measures 104 cms tall, 82 cms wide and 64 cms deep.
